And now blogging is giving me a kick to art more…yay! Tired tonight. It has been a long week and it is not going to stop until at least Easter, but at least I should get a little sleep in tomorrow. It is my youngest’s fifth birthday today and she has a party on Sunday, […]
The temperature is forecast to dip below 20C this week, the final sign that summer is truly leaving and the April rains are due. Here comes the cold. I’m not a fan of winter, however for the first time in a long time we will be travelling interstate this year right in the depths of […]
Challenge: A favourite mug (or tea cup). (Well, technically speaking this is not a mug, but a jug, and despite the challenge asking for a mug, I thought I should challenge myself more and see if I could do it. It was fun.)
To celebrate the fact that my studio has just had a darn good tidy up (except my art desk, that is still pending), here are a few piccies to prove that it was once tidy before I trash it again 😀
The biggest thing for me that I’m learning at the moment is to trust my skill. I have to believe that no matter what I do it will work out somehow. It may look like crud at some points, but if I keep going, I can make it work. I’m an artist, I can do this! (This is my mantra…and it is working :D).
And I have my first face for 29 Faces! Started off as a quick sketch, but actually took me most of the day. Here is a pastel portrait of my youngest daughter, two and a half year old Izzy.
It has been a long time since I’ve participated in Illustration Friday, (past efforts) but it is a great challenge to play in with some absolutely fantastic artists participating, so I’ve been looking for some inspiration in response to their challenges for some time now. I finally was determined enough to sit down and actually work at it and I came up with a little Life Inspired to hopefully be a vague answer to the challenge word ‘teacher’.
I have two sketches this week to submit for Sunday Sketches. The first is the second in the new series of ‘Life inspired’ scribbles I’m doing. The second sketch…well, I’ll let you make up your mind about that one.
In my quest for self education in the area of portraiture, I once again made an attempt to scribble down a face portraying emotion. Since I’m hip deep in the Avengers fandom at the moment, I took a scene from a fanfic I read recently and drew inspiration from that.
Yesterday I did a sketch of a very rough idea. This is my submission for this week’s Sunday Sketches. It’s not much, but I’m hoping it will develop into a nice little piece (asap! It’s due tomorrow).
