The Asgard Sequence
Once upon a time a shy little fic reader and occasional writer joined
a new mailing list, Jackfic. This mailing list was for the fans of Jack
O'Neill, leader of SG-1 in Stargate. Initially this sometime writer sat
in the background and watched these people on this list having fun. She
read some of their great fic, and one day decided to have a go at writing
her own Stargate fic - 'Never Play with Knives'
was born. It was received well, and she made a new friend - Twitchy (yet
to be named Twitchy, that came later :D). Encouraged by the group she
grabbed an idea and came up with 'The Bug', a
simple humorous piece written for fun. She joined chat, and met more members
of the group, and really started to have a good time.
One evening she was in the shower (yes, the shower), when she had an
idea for a scene. Dashing out of the bathroom, she scampered down the
hallway, wet and rather bereft of clothing, to her desk, and scribbled
down the idea. Over the next couple of days she wrote that idea into a
neat little 5 page fic and called it 'Alien
Reflections'. And she posted it to the list.
Holy cow! The response she got was phenomenal - You can't leave Jack
like that!!!!!!! She was shocked, to say the least, at the reaction to
her humble fic. A sequel was demanded by the masses on the Jackfic list.
What could she do, but comply?
So was born the Asgard Sequence. Part 1 Alien Reflections was originally
intended to be standalone, but a sequel was demanded - so technically
speaking Parts 2-24 are that sequel :D
I would like to say here that if it wasn't for Twitch and the wonderful
gang on the Jackfic mailing list this fic would not exist. Twitch became
my beta reader - at all hours of the night, mind you - and the rest of
the gang just yelled for more. Thankyou, guys, you are a great bunch of
friends.
If you are a fan of Jack O'Neill and would like to come and join a fun
bunch of people visit the Jackfic website at www.jackfic.com
we'd love to meet you.
Oh, and if you would like to yell for more Gumnut fanfic, don't hesitate
to drop me a line via gumnut@gumnut.net
- feedback feeds my pen, this story is proof.
