Dangerboy Hobbies I suspect many aircraft modellers have heard about Dangerboy Hobbies and their 1/48 scale Resin Wingfold Conversion sets. While in Chicago for the IPMS USA Nats. I met the man behind Dangerboy Hobbies and saw all four sets in the range. Dangerboy Hobbies has a focus on naval aircraft, particularly propeller driven US Navy and US Marine Corps. Their most recent product in their range is a Resin Wingfold Conversion for the 1/48th scale Hasegawa F4U-5/5N/7/AU Corsair. Other conversions in their range are for the 1/48th Hasegawa F6F-5/3 Hellcat and 1/48th scale Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM series. Previewed at Chicago was their soon to be released set for the 1/48th Tamiya F4F Wildcat . The resin sets provide complete wing replacements with no modifications to existing kit parts required (you'd better believe it !). Dangerboy Hobbies are calling them "fifteen second conversions" so that gives us an idea of how quick the conversion is (hey Roger D, how long did the KMC wingfold conversion for the 1/48th scale Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM take you ?). Being a "sucker" for navy planes and jets with wingfolds, I purchased a Hellcat and Corsair set. Well I was tempted to buy all four but at the bargain price of USD $33 each these sets were not cheap. However they looked fantastic on the finished models displayed at the Dangerboy Hobbies table. I'm now working on a Corsair and Hellcat and hope to have at least one finished for this year's EXPO. Studio 27 Decals It's enough to make a grown up F1 modeller weep! Have a look at the set of decals Studio 27 have released for the Tamiya 1/12 BT44 Brabham. Day-glo orange and BROWN no less. Ah well I guess it will appeal to somebody.
(I personally know bugger all about F1 cars but I'm guessing that this is one from the 70's? If so all I want to know is, if they used Burnt Orange and Mission Brown then where's the Lime Green??? - Ed) |
