Tamiya 1/35. This kit was a first for me in many ways. It was the first Armour kit I have ever built as well as being the first Tamiya kit I have ever built. When I got back seriously into modelling I was focused on mainly on Sci-Fi and Luft46 kits. But as the years rolled by my tastes changed and as a result I have decided to diversify and try something a little different.
The catalyst for this change came when a good friend gave this kit to me for a Christmas present a couple of years back. Originally it went into the cupboard that all modelers have, where it would have stayed probably never being built. One day I was looking to build an armour kit to put into one of our Expo SIG themes, and I remembered this kit lurking in my cupboard.
The kit itself is quite old and this is reflected in the flash and mold seams on many of the parts. This was, however, nothing to someone who is used to the suspect molds and fit of the kits that I am used to building. Once the individual parts were cleaned up and assembled the fit was outstanding. The kit went together quite quickly (for me) and was being painted within 2 -3 weeks of me starting. Once the model was complete it was off to be painted. Painting and high lighting was done with Tamiya Acrylics and the dirtied down look was acomplished with a wash of Citadel inks. The few decals went on and presto it was done. This kit was a pleasure to build, and has prompted me to go out and get a few more armour kits. .
