During the negotiations between the US and Australia for the purchase of surplus USAF FB-111s, other meetings regarding the possible purchase of more advanced aircraft also took place. The end result was the secret purchase of several surplus F-19 Stealth Fighters. To keep the advantage of having Stealth Fighters secret for as long as possible an elaborate ruse was used. The F-19s would all be given serial numbers matching those given to the new F-111Gs, they would wear 6 Sqn markings, be in the same overall Gunship Grey camoflage and would be operated by a special detachment of 6 Sqn operating from a base in the Northen Territory. Any potential invaders would get a very nasty surprise.......
This is Italeri's 1/72 Stealth Fighter. Built largely OOB except for a Pavla Aces II ejection seat and using Aussie Decals F-111G sheet.
