It is 1946 and the Germans unlease their latest superweapon - the PzKpfw X Ausf A Mammut (Mammoth).
The At-At's or Imperial Walkers from Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back were one of those kits that I always wanted to build but never quite got around to. It was only after I bought this kit that I did a bit of research on the net to see what tweaks it would need. Alas, it turned out to be another of Amt/Ertl's half-assed efforts as was usual of their Sci-Fi line. Somehow they managed to get the body and legs different scales and as a result the legs are too close together. So close in fact that it would trip over it's own feet if it tried to walk! The effort required to make it accurate to the movie item was more than I could be bothered with, so I decided to have some fun with it and ignore the faults. I'd seen another modeller do several German At-At's and thought I'd follow suit. Then my imagination took over and I added a base and finally Dragon's 1/72 E-100. The difference between the E-100 and the At-At are enormous. The Dragon kit is a truly lovely kit and almost falls together. Included with the E-100 are two really nice figures and at this point I thought it would be nice to give the At-At a sense of scale. On the whole it all turned into a fun project.
