2007 S.A. SCALE MODEL EXPO - Report

The 25th Annual South Australian Scale Model Display and Competition was conducted as part of the S.A. Scale Model Expo over the weekend of November 3 - 4 at CBC Centenary Gym.

Overall, the event was a success with entry numbers up on 2005. Public viewing numbers were slighty down on 2005 due to the poor weather over the weekend. Trader numbers were also at near record numbers, even with Red Roo Models and Firestorm Models not attending due to personal committments. They will likely be back next year though.

The overall quality of entries was excellent with many visitors and entrants commenting that the overall standard continues to improve each year. This fact is almost irrelevant as the overall aim of the S.A. Scale Model Expo is to provide an enjoyable experience for all people involved. The major award winning models and many of the category award winning models were certainly of the highest quality (even museum quality).

The organising committee would like to thank all sponsors, trader and entrants for their participation. Special thanks goes to DAWN TRADING (importers of Academy kits), via S.A. representative Mr. Nigel Forgan, for their outstanding support and encouragement as our major hobby partner.

On a personal note, I would like to thank those SAPMA club members, and other volunteers, who worked together fabulously over the weekend - again it really was a superb team effort! Any help the core "Expo workers" get is greatly appreciated as some of us clocked up between 20 and 30 hours running the Expo over the weekend.
