N.B. All "Technical Judged" entries are automatically entered in the relevant "People's & Entrant's Choice" category

The revised Technical Judged Category Structure eliminates the previous "Standard", "Enhanced" and "Modified" skill based entry criteria in the Aviation, Armour/AFV and Automotive classes. The major changes are:

Aviation - now split by expanded subject matter & then scale and includes the introduction of a separate category for Rotor driven aircraft in RO1 Rotors/Helicopters.
Armour/AFV - AV2 to AV4 Large Scale cover expanded subject matter.
Automotive - CR2 to CR5 Cars Medium Scale are split into Non-Competition and Competition and then by "Out-of-Box" and "Modified". Note: these are the only four categories where there are Out-of-Box or Modified entry criteria.

Explanation of Category Structure

The three-tier category structure caters for the competition minded modeller through to those modellers who simply want to display their finished kits. The three types of entries are:

1. Technical Judged (Competition Categories)
Entry is placed in the applicable technical judged category. The model will be critiqued & scored by a judging team and then ranked against other entries in category. Feedback comments will be provided by the judging team to the entrant on the judging schedule. Entrant has opportunity to win First, Second & Third placed trophies in the category (see category table). A "No Clean Sweep" rule applies (ie. an entrant cannot win all three trophies in one category if there are other entrants). Cross-entry is allowable (eg. diorama with a tank - the tank can also be cross-entered as a separate entry - entry fees payable for both entries). Automatically eligible for voting in the People's Choice & Entrant's Choice popular vote categories. Only entries eligible for "Best In" awards as decided by Head Judges.

2. People's Choice & Entrant's Choice Only (Popular Vote in 7 Classes)
Entry placed in the appropriate People's / Entrant's Choice area (as defined for the Sunday's Public Viewing). Winner Only trophies decided by popular vote. Entrant has opportunity to win Winner Only trophy in both categories, ie. there are separate voting & tallies for the People's Choice and Entrant's Choice categories. Entries NOT eligible for "Best" awards.

3. Display Only.
Entry placed among similar models. Ideal for non-competition, theme display or previously entered models. Entries NOT eligible for "Best" awards.
