Blink and it is a month since I posted. May was, well, May was nuts. A combination of work crazy, health hiccups and an art stall (not the market kind – the drat it, art is not happening kind!) But I do have some show and tell. First up is the source of my art […]
First completed painting of 2016 on the first day!
I’ve completed another painting. This one took on a life of its own and ended up quite different from what I had intended. It seems that I always end up painting mermaids.
This week’s sketching has been revolving around finding a new dragon to paint.
This post continues on from my previous post about dragons.
The continuing part is the wonderful news that my latest dragon painting is finished!
Since about December last year, this household has been alive with Dragons. Dreamworks Dragons to be exact. Myself, and both my two girls have been madly watching every little bit of this world we can get our hands on, particularly my youngest who recently had her fifth birthday and a Dreamworks Dragons party to celebrate. I am having a love affair with iridescent gel. I can’t seem to get away from it, not that I want to. I can’t help but throw some into almost all my paintings at the moment. I just love the lustre.
It is so wonderful to have some sunny weather to paint in. Last weekend I grabbed my acrylics and set up on the back porch and threw together to beginnings of a randomish painting (mainly because the canvas I’m using has a thread pull in it and I had to wait for the other two I’d gessoed to dry). Didn’t know what I wanted to paint, I just slapped it down. It is wonderfully freeing, especially since the canvas was a dud one so it didn’t matter what I did to it, I couldn’t use it to make saleable art anyway.
Day 3 of 30 Days of Creativity and I have finally completed my eldest daughter’s mermaid painting!
I don’t have any finished art to show today, but I did do quite a bit of work on my mermaid painting.
